Special Needs Programs
at Where Music Begins
For Students with Special Needs....

The unique design of all of our programs allows us to teach many
students with special needs.  And we are proud to say that we have
one of the largest music academies in the Bay Area that provides
adapted music lessons.  Where Music Begins has just been
recognized by Kindermusik International as a Maestro in Outreach
program for its outstanding work with children with special needs.

Our academy is the perfect environment for students allowing
them to feel secure because they are learning in the same fashion
as all other children.  Our experience in this area is extensive and we
have worked with many special needs including sensory processing
disorders, autism, aspergers, down's syndrome, tourette's
syndrome, cerebral palsy, developmental and cognitive delays,
visual and auditory impairments, physical disabilities and the blind.

We are passionate about enriching the lives of our students by
focusing on their "ability' and not their "disability" allowing us to
provide a sense of security and success in a positive learning
environment.  Because we believe that parent participation is an
integral part of our student's learning experience, children with
special needs can experience success in all of our programs.  Simply
Music, Kindermusik and Signing Smart all provide outstanding
neurological, cognitive, language and social skills that benefit all
students.

Walk Now for Autism:

On June 7, 2008 Where Music Begins once again participated in the
Walk Now Event at the Alameda County Fair Grounds in Pleasanton
to raise money for research and awareness with Autism Speaks.

"Walk Now for Autism, the nation's largest grassroots autism walk
program, is Autism Speaks' signature fundraising and awareness
event, taking place in communities across the United States, as well
as in Canada and the United Kingdom. Powered by volunteers and
families with loved ones on the autism spectrum, this successful
grassroots fundraising effort not only generates vital funds for
autism research but also raises awareness about the increasing
prevalence of autism and the need for increased research funding
to combat this complex disorder." Autism Speaks.  For more
